Cooking and Baking Fun at Our Warwick Stay and Play Group

At our inclusive and welcoming Stay and Play group, we love combining play with learning — and our recent cooking and baking themed session was a fantastic way to do just that!

Chopping Pretend Veg

Children loved getting hands-on with our pretend vegetable chopping station! Using safe, child-friendly tools, they practised slicing play vegetables — an activity that is excellent for building fine motor skills, hand strength, and bilateral coordination. Role play like this not only boosts imaginative play and language development, but is also fantastic for children as it encourages life skills, problem-solving, and confidence in a safe, supportive environment.

Playdough Ice Cream Play

Our colourful playdough ice cream parlour was a sensory delight! Children squished, rolled, and shaped their own ice cream creations, developing tactile awareness, manipulative skills, and creativity. Playdough play is well-known for enhancing fine motor development, particularly beneficial for children, helping them strengthen hand muscles needed for tasks like writing, dressing, and feeding.

Oat Play Tea Party

Our oat play tea party was a firm favourite, offering a lovely mix of sensory exploration and imaginative role play. Children scooped, poured, and stirred oats to prepare their own pretend tea party treats — an activity that supports hand-eye coordination, concentration, and social interaction. Sensory-rich, inclusive activities like these are perfect for children, encouraging communication and confidence through play.

At our Stay and Play sessions, we are passionate about creating inclusive, developmental play opportunities for all children.
